Abbottabad, Pakistan – Representatives from COMSATS University Islamabad, Abbottabad Campus, have successfully completed the first phase of the challenging Tirich Mir Base Camp expedition, a 7-day trek organized under the supervision of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Culture and Tourism Authority (KPCTA).
The rigorous journey saw 20 trekkers from across Pakistan venture from Chitral to the formidable Babu Base Camp, situated at an impressive altitude of 4,720 meters.
COMSATS Abbottabad was proudly represented by Usman Shahzada (Assistant System Analyst), Rizwan Abbasi (Software Developer), and Shah Mansoor (Final Semester Student). Their active participation in this demanding expedition showcases the university’s unwavering commitment to fostering leadership, endurance, and responsible adventure among its community.
This significant initiative, launched under the special directives of Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ali Amin Gandapur, aims to champion eco-tourism and deliver substantial economic benefits to remote communities in the region. Following this successful first phase, two more trekking groups, including a dedicated female team, are scheduled to embark on the next stages of the expedition.
The triumphant completion of this phase has garnered widespread attention and been prominently featured in both national and regional media outlets, including The Nation and Chitral Times. These publications have highlighted the immense potential of this trek in significantly boosting tourism and driving regional development across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
